Britt, I was the Equipment Engineer for 2 wafer fabs. I have been all over the world to either buy equipment or go to tech schools on equipment. Prior to that, I was the field service engineer for an equipment manufacturer. This means I was also in chip fabs for Intel, Tectronics, Silicon Valley Group, Harris Semiconductor, Rockwell, and Boeing, to name a few. That pure Quartz is used in crucibles that grow Silicon , Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Ruby, and other crystals (later sliced into wafers), in process tubes for thin films (SiO2), Epitaxy (initial N and/or P dopant layers to make the Silicon and other substrates mentioned above, more or less conductive, or to place a protective layer on the substrate for chip manufacturing). Obviously further processing of multiple layers to make diodes, solar cells, transistors, microprocessors, ram, etc…, where high heat is necessary, and/or protection from the environment, use quartz as well. This disaster well definitely hinder the Electronics Industry, and all those who use them in their products, from computers, PLC’s, telephones, televisions, Medical, even potentially the entire media - meaning TV stations, Radio Stations, and Internet. Industries also affected, Automotive (gas, diesel, and electric vehicles, Space travel (satellites and rockets), Defense, Airlines, robotics, production lines, etc…
If there ever was a time for our Government to get involved and help, it is now! The military should be mobilized to make roads and bridges. That’s how they cross rivers, etc… during war time. They also could help in clearing landslides that may be blocking access to the mines!
If our government does not get involved, it will be proof of their intent to disable this nation and modern society.
This is definitely the time for people to Pray and contact their representatives in Washington!
