You’ll Never Hear Anything More Important Than This…
The Good News of Jesus Christ
Do you know Jesus Christ?
I don’t want to assume you do just because you’re reading a newsletter titled End Times Bible Prophecy.
Especially since nothing in your life is more important.
So if you don’t already know Him, let me tell you the Good News of Jesus Christ…
Eternity Matters
Many people go through their whole lives and never give any thought as to where they’ll spend eternity.
Don’t make the same mistake.
Where you spend eternity is the biggest decision you’ll ever make. Do you know where you’ll spend it?
Many people think they do. They think they’ll go to heaven. In fact, they think everyone they know will go to heaven – everyone, that is, except for “bad people.”
But who decides who’s “bad?” Where do you draw the line between a mass murderer and a “good person?” You may think you know the answer, but the Bible says this – there’s no distinction.
The Bible says:
“As the Scriptures say, ‘No one is righteous — not even one.’” Romans 3:10 (NLT)
No one is righteous. No one.
The Bible also says:
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Romans 3:23 (NLT)
All have fallen short of the glory of God. We’re all sinners. Not one person on earth is “good.” Not one person is righteous (Romans 3:10).
Why is this? Why would God create us, and then condemn us all to a life of sin?
The better question is “Why are we like this?” And the answer is simple – God gave us free will.
We’ve All Broken God’s Law
God gave Adam and Eve freedom to choose, and they chose to break God’s law. Because they did, everyone born with a human father from then to now has been born into a life of sin.
We can’t help it. It’s in our nature to break God’s law.
And that means everyone is guilty. Think about it... Have you ever stolen anything? I mean anything. I’m not talking about robbing a bank or stealing from Wal-Mart. I’m talking about anything.
It could be as seemingly insignificant as a cookie or a piece of candy. Have you ever done that? If so, you broke God’s eighth commandment (Exodus 20:15).
Have you ever lusted in your heart? If so, Jesus says you’re guilty of adultery (Matthew 5:27-28), breaking God’s seventh commandment (Exodus 20:14)?
Have you ever coveted something someone else had (Exodus 20:17)? If so, you’ve broken God’s law.
God says if you break even one commandment – just one – you’re guilty of breaking them all:
“For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God’s laws.” James 2:10 (NLT)
And if you’ve broken God’s law, you’ve sinned. This means you’ve fallen short of God’s standard – perfection.
You’re a sinner, and I’m a sinner.
And this is bad news.
It means you’re condemned, and the Bible says the penalty is physical and spiritual death:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (NLT)
Sin separates us from a Holy God (Isaiah 59:2), and if you die in your sins (John 8:24), the Bible says you’ll be separated from God for eternity:
“They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.” 2 Thessalonians 1:9 (NLT)
If you’re “forever separated from the Lord and His glorious power,” you don’t end up in heaven. You end up in hell. So don’t buy into the idea everyone goes to heaven when they die.
It’s a lie.
Hell Is Real
Hell is real, and it’s a terrible place. The Bible calls it “a lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). It’s a place where “blazing coals and burning sulfur rain down on the wicked” (Psalm 11:6). It’s a place of sorrows (Psalm 18:5). Jesus calls it a place of torment (Luke 16:23), outer darkness (Matthew 8:12), and weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:42). It’s a place of no relief (Revelation 14:11) and eternal punishment (Matthew 25:46).
Hell is a terrible, terrible place. And humanity is marching straight into it. Our sin makes us an enemy of God. It condemns us to eternity in hell.
Does this mean all hope is lost? No.
Far from it. Because, fortunately for us, God provided a solution…
God’s Solution
What is God’s solution? It’s this… Because God loves you (John 3:16), He died for you (Romans 5:8).
He paid the penalty for your sin so you don’t have to endure eternity in hell. How did He do this?
He sent Jesus.
The Bible tells us God became flesh and dwelt among us:
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:1-5 (NLT)
Being born of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18), Jesus was the only man who ever lived who did not sin. This means Jesus was the only sacrifice sufficient to pay for our sins (2 Corinthians 5:21), and that’s exactly what He did.
The Bible tells us God sent His one and only Son to die in your place:
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 (NLT)
In obedience to His Father’s will, Jesus willingly went to the cross. He allowed His captors to nail Him to it. He freely shed His blood for you and me. In doing so, the Bible tells us Jesus wiped away our sins:
“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7 (NLT)
This was the only way. Because the Bible says “without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness” (Hebrews 9:22).
In Jesus, you’re forgiven.
Not because of anything you’ve done. But because of God’s grace. It’s a free gift.
God’s grace saves you when you believe in His one and only Son. You’re not saved as a result of anything you’ve done. No amount of good deeds make you “good” in the eyes of God. Otherwise, you could boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
No. It’s only through God’s grace that you can be saved.
This is great news!
You can avoid hell. You can experience all the joys of heaven. You can become an adopted son or daughter of God Himself (Ephesians 1:5). But there is a catch.
While God’s grace is freely given, you must accept it.
Jesus says if you reject Him, you’ll die in your sins:
“That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.” John 8:24 (NLT)
Remember, God gave you free will. He’ll let you refuse His saving grace. He’ll let you step right over His dead body and march straight into hell.
Don’t make that choice.
God gave everything to ransom you. He died a terrible death to save you. He died so you can live. Don’t let His sacrifice go to waste. Don’t let pride stand in your way.
If you think you’re already good enough – if you think you don’t need God – you’re going down the wrong path.
It’s a path to ruin, and unfortunately, many people choose it. They refuse forgiveness of their sins and condemn themselves to eternity in hell.
Don’t be one of them.
You’ve been a given a great gift in knowing this – Jesus said the gateway to life is very narrow and only a few ever find it:
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT)
Choose the narrow road and the gate to life. Choose the gate few people ever find.
Jesus is the gate:
“Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.” John 10:9 (NLT)
Jesus said He is the way, the truth, and the life:
“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6 (NLT)
Jesus is your Messiah. He’s your Savior.
He’s not “a way.” He’s “the way” – the only way to salvation.
Jesus is the one you’ve been searching for your whole life.
You Can Only Choose One of Two Roads
Jesus said you’re either for Him or against Him (Matthew 12:30). These are the only two roads in life. One leads to death and destruction (Matthew 7:13). The other leads to eternal life (Matthew 7:14).
Jesus said the road to destruction is broad and wide, and many take it. But the road to life is narrow and difficult, and only a few ever find it (Matthew 7:13-14).
Those who chase after the things of this world are on the wide road. Those who follow Jesus find life on the narrow road.
This is the only road to heaven.
The world tells you many paths lead to heaven, but that’s a lie. All the world’s religions are not all true.
Remember, Jesus said:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 (NLT)
No one. Not some or a few. No one.
Jesus is the only way to heaven. Absent the cross, you have no hope.
Unfortunately, many people reject this idea.
They think it’s exclusionary. They think it’s intolerant. “How,” they ask, “could a just God keep people out of heaven?” The more accurate question is, “How could He not?”
Remember, we’re guilty. Hell is the punishment we deserve.
Celebrate that God gave us a pathway to redemption.
Choose the narrow road. Reject the broad road.
If you reject Jesus, you’re on your own. His blood won’t cover your sins.
Instead, when God looks at you, He’ll see rebellion. Remember, no one is righteous – not one person (Romans 3:10). On your own, you’re a sinner. And the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
If you refuse the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, if you reject the blood He shed for you, then you’re on your own come judgment day.
And make no mistake, the Bible is clear. A day of judgment is coming:
“For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 (NLT)
Judgment Is Coming, Trust In Jesus
On Judgment Day, the earth and sky will flee His presence, and the Book of Life will be opened. If your name is not found in it, you’ll be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15).
That doesn’t have to happen. Choose Jesus now.
The Bible says today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Not tomorrow or next month. Right now.
Trust Jesus with your life now. Accept His free gift. Make sure your name is in the Book of Life.
As Jesus says:
“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” Revelation 3:20 (NLT)
Jesus is standing at the door of your heart. Right now, He’s knocking.
Let Him in.
If you do, your life will change forever. Your eternal destination will change.
This is the Good News of Jesus Christ, and you have a choice.
Jesus says you’re either for Him or against Him (Matthew 12:30). Which one are you?
